A talk with Dimitri Delmas about his book *J’avais bâti dans un rêve un palais* (I Built a Palace in a Dream), on Saturday 23 May from 4 pm, in the ‘workshop’ room at the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval in Hauterives.

The programme includes: a reading of excerpts, a discussion, followed by a book-signing session. Hosted by Frédéric Legros, director of the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval.

The Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval has gone down in the history of modern art as a dreamlike architectural masterpiece. Yet little is known about the trials and hopes that this extraordinary artist endured over the course of decades. This book tells their story.

Actes Sud’s “Un endroit où aller” collection brings together works in French and other languages across a variety of genres, many of which defy categorisation – ranging from novels, narratives and short stories to poetry, drama, philosophy and aesthetics.

Born in 1979, Dimitri Delmas is a French author and illustrator who lives and works in Paris. He has published an illustrated literary account of the Gurlitt collection: *La Collection inavouable* (Flammarion, 2023), as well as four titles in the Actes Sud Junior series: *Animaux menacés en (n)ombre* (2011), And Eugène Invented the Rubbish Bin (2012), Journeys of Taste (2014), and Fragrant Journeys (2017). I Built a Palace in a Dream is his first book in the “Un endroit où aller” collection.
